Have you ever driven with children? You're not allowed to put them in the front seat. They...

Bitten by statistics. SUVs are not listed as "cars" they come from the trucking division.

And when you look at Hummer, it isn't in the trucking division, it is a division of its own.

Look around on the roads and count the nunber of cars that have more than one occupant per car.

If 90% of the time, you ride alone in your car, it is a waste to have you drive a monster that only only consumes much more fuel, but adds to congestion and parking requirements. Every parking lot that is built is that much less gree spaces for a city. Do I need to remind you that your polluting SUVs not only pollute, but also require extra parking space which reduces the gree spaces that would be needed to compensate for your polluting monster ?

Why not drive a SMART to work every day if there is no public transit, and just rent a family car for weekends (or just buy a family car and use it only during weekends when you do carry the family).

You want a car to carry building materials ? Every heard of home delivery ? You go in your SMART to the shop, choose everything you want and have it delivered by the store. The extra costs over a year will be very small compared to the costs of buying some SUV and paying for its taxes, insurance and fuel.
