What's Bugging the HighTech Car

Yes - all very true. I've been driving for over 40 years now and worked my way up from an Isetta bubble car to my present car - a Rover 75 tourer. The two most troublesome cars that I've ever owned were my two previous cars - a Vx Omega and a Rover 75 saloon. It's ironic that two of the most expensive cars I've owned turned out to be the most unreliable. As per the article, most of the problems involved electronics - sensors etc. The Rover 75 saloon broke down *nine* times with fuel pressure sensor failure - and the combined efforts of three different dealerships and MG-Rover were unable to resolve it. They knew the sensor kept failing - but they couldn't work out just why. They had no problems with this particular sensor on any other 75 and so it wasn't the sensor itself - just something else that kept causing the sensor to fail. In the end they admitted they couldn't fix it and just offered me an outstanding deal on a replacement! Touch-wood, so far the new car is running perfectly! There is no escaping the fact, however, that the more 'technical' cars become - the more there is to go wrong.

Steve Firth It's funny what different counties call them. Coming back up from the Portsmouth ferry to Nottingham with a friend on a night last year...
