Just curious. What were you ticketed with?
I want to note something too. Quite a few years ago, I was driving home from visiting a friend who lived about 40 miles away. It was around 10pm on a Sunday night and I was getting very sleepy while driving. It was around Christmas, and fairly cold outside. I pulled into a rest area, shut off my engine and took a snooze on the front seat. I had only gotten about 10 minutes of sleep when the cops came, woke me up, and wanted all my ID's and stuff. I was questioned to no end what I was doing there. I really had nothing much to tell them, except I was getting sleepy and felt it was not safe to drive any further without a snooze, and that is what I was trying to do until they woke me up. They were quite rude and obnoxious abotu the whole thing, and they said the rest area is closed for the season. I said to the cops, that I usderstood that the rest rooms are closed at these rest areas during the winter, but the driveway into the rest area is not barricaded, so what was I hurting. The cops told me that the rest area is still closed. By this time I was getting pretty peeed, and I said to the cop "so what you are telling me is that in the warm weather a person is allowed to rest when they get tired while driving, and in the cold weather a person is supposed to just keep driving until they crash and cause an accident. Is this correct?". Before the cop even had a chance to say another word, I said "I think I am going to have to contact my state senators and representatives about this matter, because it's a safety hazzard". The cop lightened up, and said "we just dont want anyone freezing out here". I told him that when I got cold enough I'd wake up and move on. That's when he said "you're only about 5 miles from the next (name) county. Why dont you just make it easy on everyone and go to that county to sleep". Then he offerred to follow me to the next county if I needed buttistance. By this time I was wide awake and told him I'd go to the next county, and he could follow me if he wished, but it was not necessary. I left, he did not follow me.
