Where to indicate when leaving motorway 5218
Alistair J Murray That isn't always possible when for example you are making a right turn through a...

Ah, well, no. Often at junctions there are other signs, like bearing left in L1, nose up vehicle in front, suddently pulling into L1 after hogging L2 for 50 miles etc (although, not in this case).

Also, I would not buttume so wildly. If I were in L1 approaching a junction at 70 and you were in front, I'd hover back when I landed on the slip until I was sure you wern't going left, which would be at least a few seconds.

So what if my reading of intentions is wrong here? I've lost a few secs. If I was that worried about time, I'd be making it up in the previous 50 miles.

No, certainly not. I hate answering an uncertainty with a definite, as circumstances are never identical. I'd have to look and see what was going on. Noone there, why bother. Very light spaced traffic, again why bother. Hell on earth-London average=indicate. Boy racer tailgaters=indicate etc.

BTW, I'm in the NW, where traffic densities, even at 8:20am are considerably lighter.

I do similar, except when indicating, I try and do it 1 sec before the maneuver, so others could get a sense of timing, rather than indicate when I'm waiting for the back of a wagon to roll into view.

Because, believe it or not, indicating all the time in no longer 'in' and you are encouraged not to if noone is there or "no one would benefit from the exchange"

At least, that was so spring-summer 2001
