Actually, I was wondering whether you were, since you appear to be attaching weight only to the bits of the "advice" that you agree with and disregarding the clear wording that disapplies it, which is "...if you can". Without specifying the actual conditions in which it will be better to drive forwards into a driveway, the Highway Code nevertheless recognises that there are some. Whether those conditions exist is a matter of judgement in the particular case. For the judgement, that is, of the driver, not some armchair pundit in Yeovil, Stirling or Aberystwyth.
