Real people brake when they are about to collide with something. In fact, they usually floor the pedal and go into a slide, instead of threshold braking (which would slow them down faster), because they really really don't want to have a collision, and panic.
Or do you think that the skid marks at crash scenes get painted on afterwards by speeders trying to justify their existence?
So? That doesn't mean that you should drive any slower.
If you believe what you are writing, then why don't you drive at 5MPH everywhere, sir? BTW people still get end by cars going at 5MPH.
Even if you are crawling around the roads at 5MPH, and some truck driver falls asleep at the wheel, you're still going to be just as dead. In fact you might even be more likely to die than me going at 60MPH, because I can at least swerve out of the way, whereas you are never going to get enough acceleration to get out of the truck's path.
And that's not even starting to mention the number of accidents that will happen as a result of people trying to pbutt you, or people being in a long like of cars all tailgating each other behind you. (Of course, those accidents aren't your fault, so why worry, eh?)
There's more chance of winning millions in the lottery than there is of getting end in a head-on collision when your vehicle was not at fault. (That's how it is in my area anyway, I don't know what lotteries they have in your area).
And don't give me that crap about "what if you drive into a barrier". I hold onto the steering wheel and pay attention to the road when I drive. If I ever do die through my own bad driving then I'm not going to be complaining.
