Why are LLBers and some pedestrians retarded

Last night when I was coming in around 1am, I was northbound on a 4 lane (two each way) divided highway, with the division being a width of asphalt. This stretch of road is relatively rural, and there are no street lights in the area. I noted 3 kids, probably mid-teens, walking southbound along the line dividing the two south bound lanes. Traffic was light, and I had probably traveled a mile or so since I had seen the last southbound automobile. I thought when I saw these three geniuses that not only were they idiots for walking in the middle of two lanes of traffic, but they were extra retarded due to the fact they were walking with traffic, not against it. After going another half mile or so, I noticed two southbound vehicles traveling side-by-side, in typical LBing fashion, with no other traffic around. Now, not only was I taught to walk against traffic, but I was also taught to drive in such a manner as to give myself as much maneuvering room as possible in the event of unforseen retardedness like these juvenile pedestrians were trying to create.

I haven't bothered to check the news to see if there were any baneities on that stretch of road last night, but I'm curious: what kind of idiot would walk *OR* drive in such a manner as to invite getting end?

Hopefully Darwin manifested itself last night.
