I got caught twice last year in artics - one in October, one in Novemeber. I was curious to actually see the film from the gatso so i went to the camera unit in Edinburgh and the copper was about 30 mins digging out the relevant film. Now from ONE camera in ONE day he had 2 rolls of film each about 4.5 inches in diameter - when I equated this to £££ I realised just how they managed to get £700m from us in 2003. Anyway, I paid the £60 and sent my licence off for the October NIP but I've not bothered about Novembers one - Ive had no reminder so far so they can go bugger themeselves :)
By the way, before I sent my licence off to be duly marked with an SP10 I covered it with adhesive film to protect it. The reason i did this is was when I notified the DVLA about a change of address I sent off my licence with the plastic wallet - well the buggers kept the plastic wallet and sent a note back with my licence saying that the general pubilc dont use the plastic wallet so they are not sending them back out. DVLA wrote to me saying that because I had "defaced" my licence and they couldnt mark the points on it then I would have to pay £19 to issue a new one to me which would then be marked with my new points. I wrote back saying that because they left me with no protection for my licence after the address change then it was up to me to protect it myself at my own expense....so I did, hence the laminte. They wrote back saying the same thing as previous and included the cobblers about me not being able to produce it on demnd by the police if needed etc etc.
So my licence is still down there.
