Woman Shot Inside Car on Washington State

Clear needless blockages from roads
Editorial from the Cincinnati Enquirer 2-06-05 Los Angeles, Chicago and other big cities have raised "quick-clearing" car wrecks off freeways to...

Years ago but not too long ago a woman was driving her new car down a country road in Washington State. She was pulled over by a strange man who told her gas was leaking out of her tank. She said it was odd considering it was a new car and the gas needle read "full". Quickly she tries to put the car in gear (manual trans) and escape. She had her window rolled up and door locked the whole time. The man pulls out his piston and shoots her through the window and the bullet pierces a major artery in her chest.

He chases after her with his own car while she is leaning on the horn in some rural part of Washington State. She collapses on someones driveway, nobody is home inside the house. Two college students who heard the horn of her car come running to her aid and call the police. The woman survives this to tell her story on some TV documentary.

I watched that documentary probably a couple years ago and that's how I know about this. The car in the documentary was a white 2-door hatchback Ford Aspire 5 speed manual. The man was driving some black 4 door sedan which could have been a BMW. He was caught and charged for ealier liquidates.

The woman is OK now and is a lot happier. They filmed her talking by some boat docks in the pacific northwest with her wearing some windbreaker.

Can anyone please tell me what is the name of the case? Where exactly this happened? The names, dates, and where I can find some articles?

I tried googling this with little success.
