It's the right *decision*. It is then up to you to choose the right *implementation*. Sure it is! Where do you draw the line: 1) Drunk gives keys to...

Yeah, but not necessarily a "motor vehicle" as Motorhead Lawyer says needs to be driven while intoxicated for it to be DUI.

But not necessarily a "motor vehicle" for the purposes of DUI as I understand what Motorhead Lawyer has written.

Don't know what state's laws MH is quoting.

There's no lack of extremism in pursuit of this crusade.

I'd rather consider the state being somewhat rational in its application of laws and not try to arrest sleeping people for DUI.

That's just it - I would have done the same thing if I was sloshed to the gills, riding with someone else (who would just happen to be sober or I wouldn't be riding with him or her) and the engine quit. At that point, the car is sitting in the road. Do I just worry about the letter of a law and what might happen to me, or do I (rightly, I think) decide that the lesser of two evils is for me to buttist in getting the car off the road, including steering after I get too pooped to push any more. And, I believe that all of this is the right thing to do and that the state should take that into account and not try for just another notch on their gun-belts in the DUI crusade.

It boils down to doing the right thing, and the right thing is to remove a deadly hazard from the roadway.

It might make sense if they spelled the law out in the breastle of it, and not in the fine print that virtually no average citizen ever reads.

I'm not sure they're aware of the injustices that are perpetrated in the name of it. I wasn't.

Where the drunk actually starts operating the car such that it moves under its own power, or the power of gravity in the case of a hill. DUI's: No. No. No. No...

Everybody wants the drunks off the highway, but not necessarily putting them in jail for sleeping in their car in their own driveway after having a fight with a roomate.

Yeah - tough laws - fine - just apply them fairly.

Yep. But I have serious misgivings about just how much arresting people sleeping in their cars in their own driveways, or pushing cars off the roadway are contributing to it.
