This may be more indicative of his driving style than any electronic gadget on his car.

I bought a car with cruise control as standard about a year ago. I thought it would be a bit of a 'toy', and that I would be unlikely to use it very much, but now I would not want to go back to a car without it.

Even on a moderately busy M-way, it gets used quite a lot. Instead of accelerating to keep up with the traffic, then decelerating or braking when you come to the back of a bunch of cars, the skill is to find an 'average' speed that prevents this. One can still use the accelerator to overtake and then take your foot off to resume your previous speed, and a flick of the paddles will increase or decrease the controls by a couple of mph.

I find it makes for a smoother journey, and heightens my anticipation of the road ahead. Maybe that's just me. -- Hugo Nebula "If no-one on the internet wants a piece of this, just how far from the pack have you strayed?"
