It wasn't if you know where to look. We managed to get the 107 5 door for about 500 quid cheaper than we could find the similar spec C1 Rhythm, although we mainly went for the Peugeot to get the solid yellow colour, which looks really good on it. We weren't so keen on the Aygo, which differs more, as the treatment to the front and rear looked a bit too grown up and we wanted the childlike look, rather than just a small "sensible" car. Also, you couldn't get the silly rev counter stalk on the Aygo, without buying the chav "Sport" kit.
We went through drivethedeal.com and had to somewhat tongue-in-cheek pretend we were fleet buyers to the actual dealers (i.e. the dealers were in on it and had to "don't ask, don't tell" for the benefit of their franchise). All in all we saved about a grand off list price, which isn't bad for an 8K car that has only been out 6 months and, according to our local dealer, has only a 230 quid margin off list until you hit big dealer bonus levels.
Still, in its niche, the 107-C1-Aygo rocks. We wanted Group 1 insurance and had decided only to look at Band B cars for environmental reasons, so it was out of the 107-C1-Aygo, Charade, Panda and Piccanto.
The 107-C1 definitely had the best looks and safety, rather improbably managing 4 EuroNCAP stars, despite its tiny size.
