how does a road traffic accident investigator decide that a vehicle is doing 40mph as oppose to 30mph? it must be such a fine dividing line, not to mention PC pod saying to the investigator in their ear, "er you go Dav we've got an easy target to help us out with our pension devicite, put 40 mph on the report and we'll get a nice fine outta this one" most cars have ABS so you cannot see the skid mark, distance from point of impact to point of vehicle stopping is also irrevelent as you have to put in the stop it take for the driver to put their foot on the break and this may have been delayed because of the shock of hitting the pedestrian....... i really cannot see how an accident investigator can easily say that a vehicle is travelling at 30 or 40 mph as their are too many variables involved......... and how come they are always travelling a 30 or 40 mph, why not 31 32 33.....38 39? i bet the best speed to travel at is 38 mph as nobody has ever been hit at that speed....... what happens if someone is travelling at 33 is that added to the 30mph stats or the 40 mph stats?
