Not lowering a speed limit to increase the chances of people speeding past signs unexpectedly would work also. The county, afaik, has played a big part in the speed limit right there, and the county courts take in part of the tickets. Hmmm...

Soooo, you just like anything that's the status quo? You don't think there's any area in which our government can improve? Or do you just like arbitrarily set and enforced speed limits for another reason?

Everybody's doing it, and it's not that easy to get proof of an infraction with any density to the traffic and catch the person.

On a 4 lane freeway it becomes almost an unenforcable law. Why not make it one that is enforced?

Brent P Um... I think I mentioned I'd been there already, done that already, seen that already. My observations bear no resemblance to yours. No arguing? Data is merely...

For some, select drivers, yes. For people that park in a garage, if their car is leaking stuff they'll usually notice it. If tire pressure is low, they'll see the tire looks a little low. If the brakes are going there will be changes in the way the braking handles. Most things that can cause an immediate traffic hazard give you plenty of warnings before there's a problem, espescially with a rather new car.

Ok..... let's go back to the basics. Working off of the concept that as speed increases, the amount of damage and injury from a sudden stop increases...

Get a real source on that one. Show me a credible study that shows higher speed limits cause people to drive significantly faster. I know a list of ones that refute that point were posted to you in another post, so please dispute them with some real research.

LLB implies blocking, which means that they're not letting other vehicles around.

Since you don't pay enough attention to notice apparently, many LLBers do this by accelerating when there's nobody next to them. They slow significantly while pbutting.

Some will choose to pace the car next to them. I've seen a driver slow and accelerate across a 30+ mph range just to avoid letting people past her, and while trying to pbutt her on the right she'd flip you off.

Not all are intentional, some people just drive the speed of a car next to them because, well, they're most likely just too stupid to understand they're increasing their risk of an accident by cruising immediately next to another vehicle. They zone out and just go the exact same speed as the car next to them.
