that was my first reaction but there are no witnesses. the mrs's first thought was to shoot off after the ofending driver instead of asking the surrounding vehicles drivers had seen the incident.
with no witnesses it would be her word against theirs.
I've considered making a personal approach via DVLA form v888 and-or making a complaint to the police. I've also just thought about making a subject access request to whoever controls the traffic cameras at the junction where the incident took place to see if there's any footage.
.. having just checked the traffic 'jam cam' I'm not certain that the footage would be clear enough to determine if there was a collision* the mrsisgoing to make enquiries at the police station in a bit. not a formal complaint as such, she's just going to notify them that she was hit by a hit and runner, reg no, and veh. description and she's going to see if she can use her womanly charms to get the police to notify her if the driver rolls over and admits the hit and run ;-)
it's a long shot, getting a copper to inadvertantly become a witness after the fact, but you never know. there was paint exchanged and the driver ought to know how that happened. there's almost no chance of the other driver knowing the mrs's reg no. unless ... nah. plus, the drivermaybe tooling around uninsured (hence the reason for fail to stop) and they may hit a person next time.
*on second thoughts .. the other vehicle was 'hareing it' in L3 and the mrs was stationary in L2. the footage would at least show that to be the case if the other driver claims the mrs hit them.
