so i'm driving eastbound on a frontage road next to I-10, it's one of those one-way frontage roads that turns into the onramp for the freeway after a mile or so running parallel to the elevated freeway. i'm about two blocks away from getting to the ramp so i can head onto I-10 when i notice that there's a car driving the wrong direction on the ramp. he's driving westbound on an eastbound onramp.
actually, he's driving in REVERSE, and not slowly--he'd apparently gotten halfway up the ramp and discovered "hey--i don't want to get on the freeway after all..." so he's crusing back down the ramp in reverse like a stunt driver, probably 15-20 MPH. straight at me.
so of course i start braking to slow down and figure out what this knucklehead is going to do. meanwhile, i'm rolling up to the intersection that crosses the frontage road right at the start of the onramp and i notice that there's a police car sitting at the stop sign, waiting for me (and this other guy going the wrong way) to clear the intersection so he can cross. there's no stop sign in my direction so i just slow way down and the wrong-way dude turns south at the intersection RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COP.
i'm thinking "cool... that's one guy that needs to get busted for driving like a moron..." so i roll past the cop and wrong-way dude, who are now facing each other on opposite sides of the intersection. i check my rearview to watch the party lights come on...
...and NOTHING! cop drives right past him and lets him go as if nothing was wrong! couldn't believe it. are they cousins? ;-)
