I am all FOR courtesy in driving and I regularly extend it to others and receive the same. What I do have a problem with is *excessive* courtesy; When people go out of their way to be courteous when it would be so much better for everyone if they got on with their driving and let others do the same.

e.g. You are waiting to pull out of a side road and have to wait for a line of four or five cars to clear. The LAST car in the line decides to slow down and start flashing their headlamps to let you out. This despite the fact that there is NOBODY behind them and you had already planned to pull out as soon as they were past anyway. Now you're not quite sure at first WTF is going on. You CANNOT buttume their flash is for you so you need to look around make sure there is no ambiguity by which time they are almost stopped and flashing again. Eventually when you're sure what the situation is you start to pull out and then they start to move because they thought you weren't going to so you stop and they stop...
