Sure, the strong safe box won't raise an eyebrow.... they won't be the least bit interested what might be locked up in there. Yeah right.
It's not like that can't go to the local pawn shop and buy sawsall or a concrete saw, big hammer drill, or any other such tools that are pawned. Or haven't already have them from other thefts.
There were two attempts to steal my brother's 1982 oldsmobile when the car was 17 years old. I put two steering columns into that car. Why anyone wanted to steal that car I'll never know. The junk yard,reman, and new parts for it were so cheap that stealling it for parts wouldn't be worth the effort.
Now family vans probably have a great market to supply parts for.
That would allow police in Illinois to seize my car under the hidden compartment law given a creative enough interpetation. unconsbreastutional if you ask me, but another tool law favored by cops.
Not to metion that bolts through a stamped sheet metal floor of car can never be secure. if they cannot be simply undone from under the car, the sheetmetal certainly isn't strong enough. And then there is the risk of rust.
