No, they did not all have that. Some old mowers did, some had a piece of metal that physically had to be placed over the plug to short it out. Some simply got choked out.

Obviously some did. I don't have any available to throw out like you always seem to do, but apparently there were some that somehow started or there never would have been a call to put brakes, etc.. on the blades.
That is a crap statement........If you know your equipment as well as you portray, then you are well aware of when that equipment did not have the features you are relying on now.
The bottom line is that it's a conversation that got started because you left out information originally. I am not saying you did it through ignorance or laziness, just that it wasn't there. Not having that information, Scout made a comment about your sharpening your blade without apparently shorting out the plug. Any more than that is in your head.
