hitchhikers 1074

ted formulated the question :

Its the insular world in which some people live. If I see someone in obvious trouble and I am able to help out, I stop and offer help. I saw an old couple just last week stuck on a nearby deserted country road last week, I stopped and offered some help. They were just stuck with a flat - unable to get the wheel off due to an anti-theft nut. The breakdown service turned up seconds after I stopped, so I left them to it.

A few weeks ago an artic got himself stuck trying to pull out of an uphill T. He couldn't get enough traction to pull himself out, couldn't see to safely reverse and the traffic just built up with the drivers sat there, not offering any help - not bright enough to get out of the way either. I jumped out from several cars back, got the cars shifted out of the way to give him some room, blocked the road off, got him reversed and with a bit of speed he got out.

I just don't know why so many are indifferent to the problems of others.

Motorcyclists must be an entirely different breed of human. You would find it rare for a motorcyclist to pbutt you without offering buttistance. You cannot stop alone at the side of a road on a bike for a leg stretch, without someone stopping to ask if you are OK or offering the thumbs up (question) whilst riding past.

Oh, you were asking about hitch-hikers....

In my youth I did lots of hitching. I was once offered a lift by a scooter rider, just before crossing the Forth bridge. I was carrying a full pack and riding pillion over that bridge with that pack pulling nearly broke my back :-)

Brian Epstein (plus certain friends of his) once picked me up in their Roller from Kent and took me all the way to Norwich one summer.

I don't pick them up generally, I'm usually on too urgent a business to stop. In leisure time, I will, providing I can be sure that it is not some attempt at robbery-friends hiding in the bushes etc.. Certainly I will and do always stop if there is some sort of distress involved, as I would hope others would for me.

Advice needed, re: Speeding ticket...I think I have the solution for you
will If it's a month away from when u have the 12 point limit, then wait a while for the NIP (up to two weeks) and then wait a little...

I have never stopped for anyone with trade plates, but I know nothing about this. I would buttume they would already be paid there return fare(?)

R I heard a couple of stories from a guy who had been plating for several years (bearing in mind I did it in the early 90s) When he was new...
