It's not easy to answer that one. Yes and no. Did some night trunking a few weeks ago. Was very nice driving down a quiet M18-A1-A14-M11 in the cool summer evening air with the window down and decent music on but by the time I'd done it a week I'd got fed up of it. I like going to new places but more and more a new place is only 10-20 miles off a road I've been down countless times before. Getting to the point though where I'm just going through the motions and the less hbuttle I can earn my money with, the better. Even gone self employed so I can earn the same money in even less time than I was before. Got it down to only needing to work two 12 hour days to earn a decent wage now. Absolutely hate weeks like next week where I'm booked for four days - I just can't be arsed with it anymore.
Alot of the time out in the Capri I find myself wishing I'd not taken up driving as a job so I could still enjoy it as much as I used to years ago. But still, that 20 year old fuel guzzling rusty poobox Ford seems to manage to put a smile on my face. Maybe it's something to do with having horse and cart suspension so you never quite know where it's going to go when you turn the wheel.
TBH I think alot of the problem with "modern" motoring is that it's been too sanitised. Cars are safer, they "just work", they go where you point them and to add to that HM Govt have legislated any enjoyment out of it. Still though, in my area there's bugger all coppers and we don't have any GATSOs so still the chance for the odd blat down the road.
