Doing My IAM TestI've just had my pretest, and I'm going in for it now. I thought that the senior observer was better than the other observers I've seen. He gave really good advice. I...

This exactly the reason why we took the decision we did - kids do not ALL get into trouble. Some kids do get into trouble at an early age because they are given free reign much too soon.
We have never had any bad reports from school or others, about bad behaviour from our children. One of the reasons is the number of hobbies we introduced them too to keep them busy. While some kids are on street corners, ours were at cubs, scouts or air training corps. Our children were doing aerobatics with ATC at age 14. They were away on activity weekends with scouts-cubs earlier than that. Both sons also went to football training, built model kits and painted. Our children didn't have the time to wander the streets or get into trouble - they were too busy!
One thing I am very pleased to say is neither of them drink or smoke. They didn't need to "prove" themselves to anyone. We went for a pub lunch at the weekend and we all drank coke! They see the "yoof" on TV binge drinking, peeing and vomiting everywhere as "wasters".
Doing My IAM TestSimon That does make sense to me, but the IAM seem to like you to tell them that you're checking the mirror...
If a parent takes the decision to allow their children free reign at 5 years old, and that child grows up responsible then good luck to them. The parents knew their children and took the correct decision for them. We took the correct decision for us and are proud of the responsible, well rounded boys we have.
