my good deed for the day

Brimstone I don't know where a motorway comes into it. The officer here was going...

It's a shame that there is an anti-motorcyclist feeling - some bikers do live up to the stereotype and give the rest a bad name but most are decent honest people who just happen to prefer an alternative mode of transport. Of course you're not going to sit in queues of traffic if you're on a motorcycle - and by filtering (provided it's done sensibly) you help reduce the length of the jams. I'm an occasional motorcyclist myself and I'd hope that someone would come to my rescue if I was in such a predicament- all too easy if you're on a bike at a junction with a wet, sloping gutter, you come to a halt and your foot slips out from under you.... I'd never be able to lift a bike off me!!

I once saw someone in a peugeot car who'd broken down at a zebra crossing - queues of traffic trying to squeeze past ( I was about 500 metres back up the road in the opposite direction). It took about 20 cars to try to squeeze past before someone did the sensible thing and got out of the car to help the poor lady push the car 5 metres to the side of the road 1 minute out of their time and then everyone could get past and the traffic jam was alleviated. If I was closer I would have offered to help push despite being a weakling girl! - So it's not just motorcyclists that can get this treatment.

Maybe there are afraid they will find a scary skull inside the helmet rather than a human, if they offer buttistance.
