Indeed, a saw a motorcyclist end by a fool who beckoned her out of a junction. Sadly the fool was only indicating that he had stopped to let her out, he took no account of the cars overtaking him nor of those on the opposite side of the road despite the fact that the motorcyclist was indicating to turn right.
By stopping to let her out his vehicle obscured any traffic approaching from her right, and probably obscured the fact that the road layout was two lanes on that side of the road and one lane in the other direction. She took his beckoning as a sign it was safe to pull out and pulled out straight into the path of a truck which was in the second lane, travelling at about 12mph.
The speed of the truck was slow, sadly it's mbutt was great and it ran straight over her. The truck drivers view was obscured by the prat who stopped to let her out.
After the incident (to which I and several others were witnesses) the driver who beckoned the woman out tried to deny that he had done so, blaming the truck driver. To her credit, it was his wife who told the police what had happened, as did several of the other witnesses (including me). If we hadn't, the copper was up for throwing the book at the truck driver.
What really peeed me off was that the prat who decided to take it on himself to throw away the Highway Code that day then didn't have the guts to admit what he had done. In that, I suspect Mr SlopyShoulders had much in common with those here who claim they know better than the HC.
