oh me Surely not

This item is taken from Aberdeens Press and Journal local rag - I've just seen the clip on Scottish TV.

Seemingly the paper didnt tell the same story as the TV did. What happened was the she was caught speeding over 100mph in S****horpe, ignored the fine and summons, moved to Aberdeen, was caught YET AGAIN speeding, arrested on the spot when the cop realised there was a warrant out for her.

She had the f***in neck to moan like buggery about being dragged into the cells, then to S****horpe Court, then back up to Aberdeen.

The worst of it is that the case was thrown out - which will only re-inforce the idea that she was right to speed and not pay the fines etc and the law is wrong. Welcome to Britain.

The article....

p.s. She drives a BMW 4x4 (that told me a lot before she even spoke on TV)

09:00 - 16 November 2005 Michelle Keating is a "perfectly respectable" businesswoman and mother of four, according to her solicitor. But last week, the 43-year-old from Daviot, near Inverurie, was treated like a "common criminal".

During a routine police check on the A90 near Stonehaven, she was arrested and taken to Aberdeen's Queen Street police station in connection with an unpaid speeding fine.

14-month-old speeding offence in Lincolnshire, a warrant was issued for her arrest by magistrates in S****horpe.

She was taken into custody and forced to spend two nights in police cells.

She had to make a 442-mile journey to S****horpe in the back of a police car with just one 15-minute break.

And she claims she was not offered a wash or a shower and she had little more than a bowl of cornflakes to eat during the entire ordeal.

"My treatment by one or two of the officers at Queen Street was appalling. The whole episode was outrageous," she said. "I was just thrown into a cell with a bench covered by a blue plastic mat for a bed. It was disgusting.

"I was arrested at 2pm on the Thursday and only given a bowl of cornflakes on Friday morning in my cell. I had a couple of mouthfuls and it actually made me sick. It wasn't nice because the toilet was in the cell as well. Officers turned up with some sausage rolls and greasy chips for lunch but I couldn't face it."

After the first night in a cell in Aberdeen, she was taken to a police station in S****horpe in the back of a police car.

She spent a second night in the cells there before appearing before a magistrate who threw out her case on Saturday morning, leaving her without any motoring conviction and a clean driving licence.

Mrs Keating said: "I had no proper food while I was in the cell and was only given a bottle of water on the journey down to S****horpe by car with two officers. I was petrified the car would crash. They had to drive all the way from S****horpe to Aberdeen and back with only a 15-minute break when they got here. I was worried the driver would fall asleeep.

"I only got to eat something after I was released from court on the Saturday morning.

"It should have been apparent what my situation was and it could have been sorted out very quickly instead of putting me through this hellish ordeal."

Her husband, Christopher, 42, described his wife's treatment as "appalling".

He said: "My wife was in solitary for 24 hours and did not know what was happening to her. When she complained of a headache on the Friday the custody officer said nobody would have sympathy with her and she could be in custody until Monday of this week.

"The final insult was when she had to appear in the dock at S****horpe in handcuffs. There was a total lack of compbuttion for her plight."

Mr Keating also claims that when he contacted Grampian Police's control room to ask what was happening to his wife he mentioned they had four children to look after. He said: "I just asked for some understanding from them. The reply I got from a male call handler was: "Are you saying you cannot look after your children? If so, the next call I'll make will be to the social services."

Mrs Keating's solicitor, Stuart Cranidge, said: "It is one of the most outrageous cases I have dealt with in 35 years."

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "Grampian Police acted both professionally and empathetically throughout."
