Craig Davies to your left decides *not* to leave at the next exit, which means that you can't in fact get off the roundabout. The HC ought to have told him to approach in the RH lane if going straight on, and to keep out of the LH lane, but instead it tells him to select the 'appropriate' lane Have you actually seen the HC book lately, it clearly shows with a diagram, that goin left and straight on at a roundabout stay in the LH Lane, and use the RH Lane if going right (third exit).
Yes I mentioned it in the part you snipped. The diagram is an over-simplified example - there are only 3 cars on it! A more realistic example would show one car following another in both lanes, and would better illustrate the problem I am talking about.
And what is the difference between taking the second exit and the third, ie if it's considered good practice to cross one exit in the LH lane (but not by me), why not the next one? in fact why not go all the way around in the LH lane?
All I am saying is that IMO it would be better if all traffic to one's left on the roundabout could be expected to leave at the next exit - nothing more.
