rude drivers nope. rude TRUCKERS... 1939Dave Head If there was a need for 25x as many rails as there are now... they would be built, Private business has ALWAYS done better than Gov't (amtrak ring any bells? Gov't run...
I-10 all the way from los angeles to tucson is sadly notorious for this kind of stuff. ESPECIALLY between LA and phx, that can get downright nasty with flat out rude truck driving...
i was headed westbound from phx to LA on a busy traffic day two years ago--it was thanksgiving weekend. pretty heavy traffic, the kind of load that brings the speed from the marked 75 MPH down to around 60-65 MPH average for EVERYONE. i watched a particularly agressive trucker who was wielding his truck like a weapon, cutting off four-wheelers who were *properly* pbutting him on the left because he didn't want to sit behind a trucker who was doing 58 MPH instead of 60.
i watched one 4-wheel truck who was following traffic in the left lane come up on his left flank and WHAMMO the guy starts swerving into the left hand lane as if the 4-wheeler isn't even coming. the 4-wheeler is forced to swerve onto the shoulder and almost loses control of his vehicle. i know it was an intentional move, the trucker simply didn't want to wait.
stuff like that i just *have* to report after witnessing... unfortunately, the truck didn't have any phone numbers marked on it, so my wife took the license and truck numbers and we found the name of the company on the side of the truck (it was out of the LA area). we approached the cab to get a driver description and my wife made a nice show of eyeballing the driver and then writing down his physical description. he was really happy about that.
she found the company and called them the following monday and very calmly reported the details of what we saw to some supervisor at the company. who knows what ever happened? do trucking companies take this sort of thing seriously? or are "civilians" not to be trusted?
i'm sure many do. i wasn't trolling by posting this to the trucking ng, i'm interested to hear what truckers have to say about this nonsense. i've seen plenty of threads lamenting moron 4-wheel drivers who do stupid stuff like cutting off trucks, failing to merge properly, not allowing proper distance, etc. and i agree with em! there are plenty of moron 4-wheelers who make truckers' lives miserable.
i'm just wondering if they excuse the stuff i saw yesterday or think it's just as ridiculous.
