See followup: there is not room to pbutt safely within the lane. The fact that some people are unable to accept the right of anyone else to use the road is not the cyclist's problem. You want the cyclist to move over to let you pbutt unsafely - I say: f*** that. There are enough cyclists end by clueless drivers overtaking too close without adding to the number, thanks all the same.
For differing values of safe. You have already stated that you think any clearance which leaves your mirrors not hitting the cyclist is sufficient. Since the falsehood of this view has been pointed out to you more than once, it seems to me that only two possibilities remain: either you are trolling (probable) or you are a f***wit. These are not mutually exclusive, of course.
