.
I had the same thing happen to me , twice.
In the most recent one.. Car 1 pulled out from behind a stopped bus in L1 of a 50mph dual carriageway into L2. Car 2 stood on the brakes to avoid them and stopped. They didn't *need* to stop completely but it was a close thing so I can't blame them. Car 3 (me) stopped a couple of feet behind them. Car 4 ploughed into the back of me , still doing a good 25+ mph shoving me into car 2. At first he said it was all my fault for stopping , then the sun had blinded him , then his ABS had stopped him from , erm , stopping. Then he admitted full liability. Oh , and I did genuinely have "whiplash type" discomfort.
Before that I had stopped to turn into a car park and had to wait to let another vehicle out first. The car behind me stopped and had been sat there for 10+ seconds when a drunk woman hit the car behind me , shoving it into my boot. Estimated impact speed 25+ mph , no injury to me.
It wouldn't need to be that fast though depending on if the middle car had stopped close to the one in front and only lightly had brakes on.
