Nope. He was a former Franchise Skoda dealer who only dealt in used Skodas after he refused the VAG offer of "Upgrading his premises" from a small family garage-forecourt and workshop (like a lot of Skoda GB dealers were) to a large VW-Audi style showroom, brandnew freshly build, costing thousands, on money borrowed from VW-Skoda UK, and lost the Franchise.
He did very well until a local TVR-Brabus-AMG-Porsche chain came along and built said showroom right in the town centre, building a double width showroom, with Skoda on one side of the building, and TVR-Brabus-Porsche on the other.
It was regular on his higher priced cars of all marques to offer a minimum trade in of £2k (subject to conditions) on £5k or above cars. he did tend to trade in £500-£2k generally, either older other makes, or decent solid reliable Skoda Felicias (plus the occasional £200 favorit that was a trade in) of different specs, but obviously got a good deal on the Fabia from another dealer to move it on.
They did buttist their profitability by taking on a Mr Clutch franchise for the workshop. now sadly since the VAG based Skoda dealership opening, the Salesroom has gone into liquidation, and the Mr CLutch is the only running enterprise. -- Carl Robson "Sorry Sir the meatballs are orf" (The poster formerly known as Skodapilot)
