Heh.
Ouch.
My recent roll (not my own doing I have to add in here) illustrated that even a slow speed collision (inside 30 mph) can cause a dramatic and tragic loss of control, but even so it's wise to try to avoid.
If I went right into the vehicle, there would now be a Ka bonnet shaped dent centred on the B-pillar of the other vehicle. Three people were in the back of t'other car.
As it happened, I steered away, resulting in more of a bounce than an impact, which caused the Ka to roll.
Either eventuality Kermit would probably have copped it. The more direct impact would have resulted in airbags out (something I have been known to shout at ladies in my younger days *cough*). The less direct impact sacrificed something I've worked long and hard at (have a look at the kid's website, www.dervman.com, for details) but prevented serious injury.
But there's always a chance of something. What if on finals at a busy airfield you suffer a multiple bird strike that rips off a flap or smashes the canopy (bloody big bird heh)? Sure, it's preferable to try this when it's quiet... that's what Tim did...
But life is dangerous. Presumably gusts of winds can and do happen wherever you are flying.
