In your opinion.
OK, people who do not share your opinions, aka TheTruth(tm), are confused. How silly of me not to realise.
Let's see some figures then. I'm sure you'll have some handy since you are so certain of the ENORMOUS costs of requiring cyclists to have number plates and insurance.
attention satnav usersBrimstone yes, where appropriate. remember: rules are made for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools ;-) no it doesn't...
A guy at work who used to cycle six miles to get there eventually gave up because of the lack of shower facilities. I hope your employers were more cyclist-friendly or your colleagues did not have a particularly acute sense of smell.
We were talking about dangers to cyclists, were we not? When I lived in London and Manchester, these sorts of drivers were consistently the biggest danger. I don't encounter many such drivers in the places I cycle these days, hence I was pointing out that I don't have as much experience of real dangers to cyclists as perhaps you do.
Exactly. I felt you were being rude (apparently without realising it), I parodied what I perceived to be your rudeness to make a point, you didn't get what I was trying to do and accused me of reciprocating, completely missing the point. Hence the sigh, as in "it's not worth bothering with, forget it, move on". So... It's not worth bothering with, forget it, move on.
I'm aware of your opinion, yes. You will, of course, be able to point me to some peer-reviewed research which establishes that registration plates, tax and insurance would make roads less safe for cyclists? You wouldn't want me to think that your opinions have no basis in fact, now would you?
